CHILDREN POLICY at SweetWood Temenos

Children are welcome and encouraged to attend SweetWood’s events. It's important that we welcome our decedents into our Spiritual Path and share our values and dreams with them. Children are the sole responsibility of their parents or other guardians.

SweetWood Temenos holds that the act of being naked on its land, a land consecrated to the mystery of Divinity as symbolized by the marriage of the Younger Deities, is an act of wholeness, holiness and Divine trust. Be aware that there may be naked people of various genders and ages at SweetWood’s events.

Children are welcome to attend most rituals or workshops, if their behavior prohibits other participants from hearing and/or focusing, a parent or the designated guardian will need to leave with them. Some later evening rituals or workshops may not be appropriate for children due to mature content and these rituals will be dually noted in the schedule.

If children are found without adult supervision/awareness, that family may be asked to leave. As children become more mature they may be without “direct” adult supervision, but it is still the parent/guardian’s responsibility to know the general whereabouts of child/dren, and the child should know where the parent/guardian is at all times. The child/dren should be within calling radius of the parent/guardian at all times.

SweetWood's goal is to be family friendly but we are also concerned with the safety, growth and happiness of all the "SweetWood Family."

Proposed 08/01/06 Addendum: Approved 08/08/06

When inappropriate or disconcerting behavior by children attending a Sweetwood event is suspected to have occurred it is the responsibility of the parents and adults involved in the incident to resolve the concerns. If the parties involved in the concerns cannot come up with a resolution that is mutually satisfying then the concern needs to be taken to a Sweetwood caretaker, Jack Ingersoll or Kim Ingersoll (or to the community council when it has been created) to mediate such incidents.

The caretaker or council will note how the incident was resolved and if need be reported to the authorities and the final result noted. This information will go into a Sweetwood Folder called “Sweetwood Concerns”. The Sweetwood BOD will be advised of the concerns and their resolution.
