Morning Libation

Morning Libation

On my morning walks down into the Nature reserve,
There a crooked river flows
And two miles in there is a spring
Where I go to refresh my soul.

Squatting before the flowing water
That runs from an old iron pipe
I splash my face with its water
Five fold for it is a good measure.

Then I fill my cupped hands and stand,
Facing east and the coming Dawn
And with this blessing I do greet.

Blessings upon the Holy Mystery, the Divine Mystery
Whose powers of God and Goddess
Manifest the Divine community,
And upon the Divine Community whose love and wisdom
Create and reproduce the Trees of Life, the Universes,
And upon their flowers, who are planets,
Where life can utter these words.

Blessings upon this planet, a flower upon a Tree of Life
And to the plants, animals, and all of its life,
May humans learn how to be in harmony with you,
And may they learn how to be in harmony with their Nature!

And with this blessing, water is tossed eastward
And the growing light embraces my libation
I reach down with cupped hands once more
And three times I drink the beauty of fresh water,
I give a simple thank you
And I return to my journey once again,
More awaken and ready for the day
My heart stays in rhythm with the seasons.
