Trees of Life, A poem

Trees of Life

Trees of Life,
Woods whose roots drink from a river of immortality,
Water flowing onward, an ever expanding and reproducing spiral.

Such water is immanent in every tree,
Through all roots feeding wood and bark,
To make branches, twigs, leaves, flowers and seed.

Water taking form and becoming mortal,
Evaporates and returns to the river,
And back to its roots and home once more.

The cycle goes on and on and the water rises
Oh joy! When two or more drops realize
Upon a flower they live.

Out of conscious love such water create seed,
Unions greater than the sum,
Together with others become ripe fruit.

To fall like pomegranates along the river bank,
The scions sprout, some fertile and some not,
All are beautiful and join that infinite Host,
The sacred grove called Trees of Life.

Never Thirst
